Coction, a term of antiquity also referred to as decoction or alchemical cooking, has its roots in the Latin word coctio. The French word décoction, which is derived from the Old French decoccion, can be traced back to the Latin decoquō, stemming from coquō, which means simply to cook.

Coction is an expression embraced by the Alchemists to describe the pursuit of a superior, refined, or coveted state, achieved through either natural means or the influence of external elements, such as fire.

In the realm of alchemy, personal transformation via coction encompasses both internal and external facets of this intricate process. In contemporary contexts, coction examines the orchestration of genetic expression through the art of alchemical cooking. Within this paradigm, coction evolves beyond simple culinary preparation, emerging as a conduit for a holistic alchemical practice that engages with complex operations across physical, psychological, and spiritual dimensions. Collectively, these components foster profound nourishment across various aspects of existence. This book scrutinizes the intricate nature of this alchemical culinary art.

Following in the footsteps of female alchemists who veiled their secrets in cooking recipes, you will experience Alchemy in its multifaceted aspects throughout the creative process of crafting your own edible talismans. By blending ingredients with intent and focus, Melusina shows you how to unlock the transformative power of the culinary arts, turning food into potent symbols of alchemical work. Through the process of coction, base ingredients evolve into something greater than the sum of their parts, infusing each dish with your energy and intention.

Reflecting the alchemical heritage,  Part I elucidates the alchemical aspects of epigenetics and the role of food as in-formation, Part II delves into the practical application of the knowledge acquired and experiencing the tangible results firsthand. Both volumes are structured into eight chapters, intentionally arranged to mirror the ancient concept of the ogdoad. In Alchemy, this concept represents the seven-plus-one stages of the alchemical work that are fundamental to the transformative process.

Alchemy comes alive when it is grounded in a concrete and practical context, requiring an intimate connection between the practitioner's hands, mind, and heart. By engaging in alchemical operations with a fresh perspective, we gain a firsthand encounter with this ancient practice in a new light, as demonstrated in this instruction.

The veil between theory and practice is lifted, revealing the interconnectedness of knowledge and application in the pursuit of health and enlightenment. Just as an alchemist working with the base metals to create the Philosopher’s Stone, so too do the pages of this book blend theory and practice to lead you on a path of self-discovery and transformation.

Edible talismans are imbued with your essence, thus elevating them beyond mere sustenance. They become vessels of spiritual energy, carrying within them a deep sense of purpose. In this way, edible talismans are spiritualized essential bytes, offering not just information and nourishment for the body, but also nourishment for the whole being.

In the innovative process of alchemical cooking, like four elemental forces blending into alchemical quintessence, you will work with four distinct cultures and their cuisines, and fuse them into one great culinary experience that is truly unique and exciting, sublimating haute cuisine beyond the ordinary meaning of the term.
